For those who live in Dhaka, traffic jams are a daily occurrence. And returning home after office in the month of Ramadan seems to be a matter of more misery. Because everyone who lives outside the house, they all try to reach home before iftar to have iftar with the whole family and to perform Tarabi prayer. Traffic jams are created when everyone is rushing home on the road at the same time. Some days one may return home, or one may break the fast on the way.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Traffic Police took the initiative to take the city dwellers home before 6 pm to avoid traffic jams in the capital. Senior traffic police officials are also on duty in the afternoon to alleviate the suffering of the city dwellers. And you can have Iftar with everyone back home. The traffic police have given 14 suggestions to return home before Iftar easily and without traffic jams.
Advice to avoid traffic jams
Traffic congestion and overcrowding increase road misery. But it is not only public transport that is responsible for traffic jams. The Dhaka Traffic Police has also requested those who want to return home in private cars, motorcycles, and private vehicles to follow these suggestions.
1. Do not drive in the opposite direction
Many try to drive in the opposite direction to get home faster. Doing so creates traffic jams on the road. Thousands of people are stuck in the path for one. And if it catches the eye of the police, then the person who is driving in the opposite direction will also be interrogated by the police for breaking the rules. So driving in the opposite direction will not bring benefits to anyone.
2. Obey traffic signals
The main reason for causing traffic jams on the roads is not following the traffic signals properly. During Ramadan, many drivers turn off the traffic signals in the hope of returning home in a hurry before Iftar. Many people can not return home before Iftar because of the traffic jam. Drive the right way.
3. Don’t cause traffic jams
Never cause traffic jams on your own. Refrain from doing anything that causes jams. Walk on the sidewalk. Cross the road at the right place and use the foot overbridge.
4. Do not rush, drive at the prescribed speed
It is often seen that many people try to drive hard to return home before Iftar. But driving at high speeds on city roads is dangerous. If there is an accident, there will be a traffic jam. And there will be loss of life and property. Drive at the prescribed speed to avoid accidents.
5. Don’t blow the extra horn
Many people cannot bear the horn because the mental strength of a person who fasts during the month of Ramadan is not always the same. Frequent blowing of the horn can make the mood irritable. Debates can be caused by mood swings. This will create misery in the streets.
6. Don’t park the car on the side of the road
When cars are parked on the side of the road, the movement of unique vehicles is disrupted. Therefore, the traffic department has advised not to park cars on the side of the road during Ramadan. The city dwellers have been asked to follow the advice to reduce traffic congestion and return home before 6 p.m.
7. Don’t park in front of markets and shopping malls
The month of Ramadan is really the beginning of Eid shopping for people. There is a small shopping center and a shopping mall next to every major road in the capital. When shopping in these shopping centers, do not park your car on the side of the road, but park your car in the garage. If you put a car on the road, it creates a traffic jam, on the other hand, the fear of the car being stolen!
8. Don’t tell a car without fitness
Not just the month of Ramadan, unfit cars should never be on the road. Driving without fitness can cause unbearable and unwanted traffic jams in the middle of the road. And the question is whether the person whose car is damaged due to a traffic jam will be able to reach home before Iftar and other people will not be able to return home on time due to the traffic jam caused by his damaged car.
9. Don’t get in the car anywhere
The traffic department has advised those who use public transport not to get in the car from wherever they are. It costs a lot of time to stop the car and pick up the passengers, and secondly, it also causes traffic jams. At the city’s SAARC fountain, traffic police have taken steps to keep empty buses ready to take passengers home before Iftar.
10. Obey government decisions and motor vehicle laws
The traffic police have advised following all government instructions and motor vehicle laws to avoid traffic jams and untoward incidents and accidents. They think that this will reduce traffic congestion and misery before Iftar.
11. Don’t stop in the middle of the road
It is often seen that buses or city buses pick up passengers standing there. Many times the driver of a private car, in the absence of the owner, picks up the passenger by pulling the car to the spot. This work has been refused by the traffic police.
12. Cross the road with overbridges, zebra crossings, underpasses
Traffic police have advised pedestrians to follow proper rules for road crossings. Crossing the road without using overbridges, zebra crossings, underpasses in various places and in the right manner creates traffic jams. As a result, the speed of the car decreases. And it was too late to get home. On the other hand, crossing the road through any place is also dangerous for pedestrians.
13. Comply with VIP road rules
Those who use cars or public transport must comply with VIP road rules. Also, refrain from driving low-speed vehicles like rickshaw vans pushcarts on VIP roads.
14. Do not set up shop on the road or sidewalk
During the month of Ramadan, it is seen that various hotel and restaurant traders are sitting on the side of the road with colorful iftar. Hawkers also set up mobile or makeshift shops along with Eid Shopping. For these temporary shops, the space on the road has shrunk, causing traffic jams. As a result, it takes more time to return home before Iftar.
Ramadan is a month of holiness, a month of compassion. If we are a little more sympathetic about driving on the road, we will all be able to break our fastback home. If you take the car out after Iftar, the Prohori vehicle tracker will ensure the safety and security of the car. Go shopping, do not worry about the car!
