Asif was a little hesitant to park his car in front of the shopping mall. If you park the car here, there will be no accident? Afterward, it seemed, a maximum of half an hour’s work; Nothing like that will happen in such a short time. That’s what you think. The car parked on the side in front of the shopping mall, Asif went inside the shopping mall. It didn’t take long for him to return, he came back in half an hour. When Asif returned, he discovered that his car’s number plate had disappeared. Asif lost his number plate due to half an hour of unconsciousness and was wondering what to do now! After losing the number plate of the car, Asif first went to the BRTA website to find out what he had to do now.
Where to go first?
If the number plate of the vehicle is lost as per the instructions of BRTA, the first thing to do is to go to the concerned police station. Go to the police station and make a simple GD stating that the number plate of the vehicle has been lost.
Then the number plate lifting application
Once the GD is done, the car owner has to go to the BRTA office with a copy of the GD. To go to the BRTA office and retrieve the number plate of the vehicle, one has to apply along with ‘Assistant Director, BRTA’. The title of the application should be written as Application for Recovery of Lost Number Plate.
Once the application is made, the Assistant Director will instruct a motor vehicle inspector to search the vehicle’s chassis number and engine number. After inspecting the vehicle, the inspector will recommend to the vehicle owner to re-lift the number plate.
What do you need?
After applying to BRTA, a photocopy of the vehicle registration and a copy of the GD for losing the number plate must be submitted with the application. Also, carry a national identity card and driving license. If it is useful for any reason or if the inspector wants to see it, he has to show it.
Then go to the bank.
You have to go to the bank designated or recommended by BRTA to deposit money for vehicle number plate withdrawal and keep the bank slip. This bank slip is proof of applying for the re-lifting of the number plate until the new number plate is received. Therefore this slip must be saved carefully.
Wondering how much it costs?
Re-lifting the number plate of the motorcycle and CNG autorickshaw will cost BDT 2,260. On the other hand, if the number plate of the car is lost, it will cost 4628 takas to recover it.
After how long will you get the number plate?
After applying to BRTA and depositing money in the bank, you have to wait for SMS on mobile. Once your new digital number plate is generated within two months of applying, you will be notified by a message from BRTA to your mobile number and you will have to go to BRTA and affix the number plate on the vehicle. When removing the number plate, you must bring a bank slip, photocopy of vehicle registration, copy of GD, driving license, and photocopy of the national identity card. Only submit the required documents.
If there is no number plate in the car, it is a violation of motor vehicle law on the road. You may be punished or fined for doing so. Therefore, it is the responsibility of every driver and owner to keep the number plate attached to the car.
