He learned to drive with difficulty but went down the road with a car without a driving license. In this case, there is no benefit to having a GPS tracker in the car. If the police fall into the hands of the brothers, there will be no benefit in anything. So it is wise to get a professional driving license. But what to do, what not to do, do not know anything well, right? Many questions in your mind –
The prerequisite for a driving license is a learner’s or apprentice’s driving license. What do I do to get it?
1. The customer has to apply to the circle office of BRTA which includes his permanent address or current address (along with necessary proofs).
2. The circle office authorities will issue him a beginner or learner’s driving license with which the applicant can receive driving training. After 2/3 months of training, he has to take part in written, oral and field tests at the prescribed center on the scheduled date and time.
3. At this time the candidate has to bring his Learner or Apprentice Driving License (original copy) and pen to participate in the written test. The minimum age for a professional driving license should be 20 years and for amateur a minimum of 18 years.
What are the documents?
1. Application in the prescribed form.
2. Medical certificate from a registered doctor.
3. Attested photocopy of National ID Card / Birth Certificate / Passport.
4. Receipt for the deposit of prescribed fee – Category 1-345/ – and Category 2-518/- to the designated bank of BRTA (list of banks can be found at www.brta.gov.bd).
5. Newly taken 03 copies of the stamp and 01 copy of passport size photo.
After passing the written, oral and field test, you have to re-apply for the smart card driving license by submitting the required documents and fees in a prescribed form to the concerned circle office. The smart card is issued by accepting the customer’s biometrics (digital photo, digital signature, and fingerprint). When the printing of the smart card driving license is completed, the customer is informed to receive it through SMS.
So what are the documents required for a smart card driving license?
1. Application in the prescribed form.
2. Medical certificate from a registered doctor.
3. Attested photocopy of National ID Card / Birth Certificate / Passport.
4. Receipt of deposit of prescribed fee (Professional – Tk. 1680 / – and Amateur – Tk. 2542 / -) in the prescribed bank of BRTA.
5. Police investigation report for professional driving license.
6. Newly taken 1 copy passport size photo.
I want to get a professional driving license. I don’t know anything about this. What is its nature?
(1) Candidates must be at least 20 years of age for a professional light (motor vehicle weight less than 2500 kg) license.
(2) For a professional medium (motor vehicle weight 2500 to 6500 kg) driving license, the age of the candidate should be at least 23 years and the use of a professional driving license should be at least 03 years.
(3) For a professional heavy (motor vehicle weight more than 7500 kg) driving license, the candidate must be at least 28 years of age, and the use of a professional medium driving license must be at least 03 years.
[Note: In order to obtain a professional heavy driving license, the candidate must first obtain a light driving license, at least three years after which he can apply for a professional medium driving license, and at least 03 (three) years after obtaining a medium driving license. You can apply for it. ]
Well, what is the process of renewing the driving license?
(A) Amateur:
The customer has to first apply to the specified circle office of BRT along with the required documents by depositing the prescribed fee (Tk. 2427 / – if within 15 days of expiry and Tk. 230 / – per annum after 15 days of expiry). If the application form and attached documents are found to be correct, the biometrics (digital photograph, digital signature, and fingerprint) of the customer are taken on the same day. When the printing of the smart card is completed, the customer is informed through SMS.
(B) Professional:
Professional driving license holders will have to re-participate in a practical test. After passing the examination, the prescribed fee (Tk. 1565 / – if within 15 days of expiration and Tk. 230 / – per annum after 15 days of expiry) along with the required documents has to be submitted to the specified circle office of BRTA. The customer has to be present at the specified circle office to take the biometrics (digital photo, digital signature, and fingerprint) of the customer. When all the process of smart card printing is completed, the customer is informed through SMS.
What are the documents required for this?

3. Attested photocopy of National ID Card / Birth Certificate / Passport.
4. Receipt of deposit of prescribed fee.

Missing my previous license. What to do now?
In case of lost/stolen/burnt/damaged driving license, first, you have to make a GD at the police station mentioning the driving license number and reference number and date (if any) and collect traffic clearance from the traffic department of Bangladesh Police. A copy of the driving license must be applied for along with the Licensing Authority, Assistant Director (Engineering) of the circle office from which the rapper’s driving license has been issued or recently renewed. If the driving license is a high-security smart card then-new biometrics (digital photo, fingerprint, digital signature) is not required, otherwise to provide biometrics one has to appear at the concerned BRTA circle office and collect the acknowledgment slip by providing biometrics.
When all the process of printing a smart card driving license is completed, the customer is informed through a mobile message. After receiving the message on the customer’s mobile, you have to collect the driving license from the concerned BRTA circle office by displaying the acknowledgment slip.

1. Properly completed 04-page driving license form
2. GD copy and traffic clearance.
3. Receipt of deposit of prescribed fee (Tk. 75 / – in case of High-Security Driving License) to the prescribed bank of BRTA.
4. Newly taken 1 copy passport size photo.
How much is the fee?
Learner Driving License Fee:
(A) 01 (a) Category-345 / – (Motorcycle only or light motor vehicle i.e. any one type of motor vehicle)
(B) 02 (two) Category-517 / – (Motorcycle and light motor vehicle together i.e. any one type of motor vehicle with the motorcycle)
Smart Card Driving License Fee:
(A) Professional Driving License Fee – Tk.180 / – (Including 05 Year Renewal Fee)
(B) Amateur Driving License Fee – Tk. 2542 / – (Including 10 Year Renewal Fee)
Driving License Renewal Fee:
(A)Professional driving license renewal fee – Tk. 1565 / – within 15 days of expiration;
(B) Amateur Driving License Renewal Fee – Tk. 2427 / – within 15 days of expiration;
(C) In the case of both professional and amateur driving licenses, after 15 days of expiration, a penalty of Tk. 230 / – per year has to be paid.
